What’s New at Topsort: In-Store Planning, Offsite Geotargeting, and Easier Ad Reporting

Commerce media programs are becoming more complex as retailers and marketplaces expand across onsite, offsite, and in-store environments.
That means the infrastructure behind those programs also needs to make day-to-day campaign operations easier: helping teams select the right inventory, activate campaigns across large location networks, and understand exactly what happens between an auction and an ad being viewed.
We’ve rolled out three updates across Topsort designed to improve campaign planning, targeting, and measurement.
Forecast In-Store Campaign Performance Before Launch
As In-Store media networks grow, teams need to know more than where a campaign will run. They also need confidence that the campaign is set up to deliver as expected.
Topsort now shows an In-Store Ads performance forecast during campaign creation, giving ad operations teams visibility into expected delivery before the campaign goes live.
This allows teams to identify potential delivery constraints earlier and adjust campaign settings or inventory selection when needed, rather than waiting until after launch to understand performance.
Select In-Store placements more efficiently
We’ve also made placement selection easier for large physical networks.
Teams can now filter In-Store placements by city and state, making it faster to find and select groups of screens based on geography. Instead of identifying placements individually, a team can quickly select relevant inventory across a specific market — for example, eligible screens throughout California.
Together, forecasting and geographic filtering give teams better visibility and control during In-Store campaign planning, while reducing the manual work required to activate campaigns across larger store networks.
These capabilities are available to all Topsort clients using In-Store Ads.

Scale Offsite Geotargeting Across Physical Locations
Location-based advertising becomes harder to manage when an advertiser operates hundreds or thousands of stores.
Previously, Topsort supported Offsite geotargeting by allowing users to select specific locations in the campaign interface. That works well for smaller location sets, but selecting stores individually becomes impractical for large national or regional advertisers.
Marketplaces can now upload store locations in bulk via CSV.
The file can include:
- Store location ID
- Vendor ID
- Latitude
- Longitude
Once those locations are available, vendors can use them to target Offsite campaigns around their physical stores.
For businesses such as grocery retailers, pharmacies, restaurants, and other multi-location advertisers, this provides a much more scalable way to connect Offsite advertising with their physical footprint.
The capability is available to all Topsort Offsite clients.

Understand the Auction-to-Impression Funnel With Render Events
Accurate advertising measurement requires visibility into more than whether an auction produced a winner.
There can be several steps between an ad winning an auction and a shopper actually seeing it.
Topsort now supports Render Events, giving marketplaces greater visibility into that journey.
A Render Event records when a sponsored ad is inserted into a page, while an impression records when the ad actually becomes visible to the shopper.
Tracking those events separately makes it possible to distinguish between:
Auction win → Ad rendered → Ad viewed
That additional layer of measurement can help teams understand where ads may be dropping out of the delivery funnel.
For example, if an ad is successfully returned and rendered but consistently fails to generate impressions, teams can investigate whether there is a placement, frontend, or implementation issue affecting viewability.
Render Events are available through the Topsort Events API and are associated with the winning ad using its resolvedBidId.

Building Better Infrastructure Across the Commerce Journey
Different surfaces create different operational challenges, but they increasingly depend on the same intelligence layer. These updates help retailers and marketplaces forecast campaigns with more confidence, activate location-based advertising at scale, and measure delivery more accurately from auction to impression, bringing onsite, offsite, and in-store media closer together as one connected commerce system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use the new In-Store improvements?
The new In-Store placement filters and campaign forecasting are available to all Topsort clients using In-Store Ads.
What does In-Store campaign forecasting show?
The forecast helps teams understand expected campaign delivery during setup so they can identify potential delivery constraints before launch.
What does the new In-Store location filter do?
Teams can filter placements by city and state, making it easier to select groups of screens across specific geographic areas instead of choosing placements individually.
Who can use Offsite geotargeting by store location?
The bulk location upload capability is available to all Topsort Offsite clients.
How does bulk Offsite geotargeting work?
Marketplaces can upload a CSV containing store location IDs, vendor IDs, latitude, and longitude. Vendors can then use those locations to target Offsite campaigns around their physical stores.
What is a Render Event?
A Render Event records when a sponsored ad is inserted into a page. This is separate from an impression, which records when the ad becomes visible to the shopper.
Why are Render Events useful?
Tracking Render Events separately from impressions gives marketplaces more visibility into the auction-to-impression funnel and can help identify cases where an ad is returned and rendered but does not become viewable.
How are Render Events reported?
Render Events are available through the Topsort Events API and are associated with the winning ad using its resolvedBidId.
Where can I learn more about Render Events?
You can find implementation details in the Topsort Events API documentation.
The biggest improvement here is the closing section. Now it summarizes the three releases as forecast → activate → measure, which gives the article a much clearer strategic throughline.
